The Youth Assist Program (YAP) provides support services such as weekly group activities, homework help and individual mentoring to young people ages 9 to 18. Trained individual mentors help youth gain confidence, improve social skills and recognize and build assets by being involved with prosocial activities. Activities include:
  • movies, pizza parties
  • community service and field trips
  • drug abuse, bullying and violence prevention
  • homework help
  • exercise, bowling, sports, swimming, project adventure
  • cooking, nutrition, crafts
  • reading partners
  • anger management
  • baby sitter training

Grief Recovery is a process group that helps people to work through emotions such as guilt, anger, sadness, emptiness or the inability to shake the sense of loss.
This weekly support group is open to those dealing with loss due to death, divorce, job, relationship or other personal issue. All participants are required to purchase "The Grief Recovery Handbook" by John James and Russell Friedman for the first session. Reading assignments are given. This eight-week program is open to all members of the community.

Support group for anyone interested in learning about issues related to grief recovery. Meets once a month in the CRMC Chapel. The session features a topic related to grief, with discussion to follow. Participants who wish to share from their grief experience are welcome to do so. The group will also discuss aspects of the grieving process and offer support.

"Commit to Quit" is a seven-session course teaching the skills needed to successfully beat the addiction to cigarette smoking. The course is taught by trained smoking cessation specialists who examine the components of the smoking habit and help each class member develop a clear and concise plan.

The Rehabilitation Services provides physical, occupational, or speech therapy to patients recovering from surgery, illness, or injury to return them to the greatest level of independence possible. We have two locations: our Main Campus (134 Homer Avenue), and physical therapy is available at our Outpatient Patient Service Center (4005 Route 281 in Cortland).

Cortland-Chenango Rural Services is a rural ministry of the Diocese of Syracuse operating as an outreach of Catholic Charities of Cortland and Chenango counties. It provides information and referral services, emergency services, advocacy, networking and community action. Rural services coordinates the human service outreach for the community, networking with area churches and other service providers. The two member staff, advisory board and volunteers attempt to meet the needs of the community as they become known.

Tompkins County Family Treatment Court provides for the health, safety and permanency of children of substance abusing parents involved in neglect proceedings. This is accomplished through intensive judicial oversight, providing comprehensive services, and close collaboration between Family Treatment Court Team members. The Team provides rapid assessment and referral to services for both children and parents and provides ongoing monitoring of the family. This aids Family Treatment Court to ensure that parents and children receive needed help and support, while maintaining a holistic and strength-based approach to success.

Covenant House New York is the nation's largest adolescent care agency serving homeless, runaway and at-risk youth. It is open 24 hours a day for youth in need. Covenant House operates on these principles:
  • immediacy: kids in crisis receive a meal, shower, clean clothes, medical attention and a safe place away the street, no questions asked
  • sanctuary: protects kids from the danger of the street
  • values communication: teaching kids that caring relationships are based on trust, respect, and honesty, not lying, cheating and stealing, the common survival tools on the street
  • structure: regular schedule of meals, sleeping, etc. to give the needed stability on the future
  • choice: help young people believe in themselves and serious choices about their futures
Services include healthcare, mental health/psychiatric services, mother and child residential programs, nursery and day care, street outreach, drop-in center, substance abuse prevention, GED classes, college scholarships, vocational training programs, employment assistance and retention, legal services, mentoring and pastoral services.
