Sessions encourage participants to pay tribute to their pets and provide support to each other by sharing their stories. Animal companions who share our homes are often cherished family members. When a companion animal dies, disappears, or is given away the grief may be difficult to handle. One way to cope is by being with other others who are grieving a similar loss. Participants are encouraged to bring a picture or other memento of their pet. The group's facilitators have created an on-line Facebook community for those who wish to pay tribute to their departed animal companions and support each other.

Preble Children's Center, The Preschool Program

Address:
PO Box 189, 1953 Preble Road
Preble, NY  13141
The Preschool Program believes children acquire knowledge through playful interaction. This philosophy is called "active learning". The ages of our Preschool Program is 3 years to 5 years. Preble Children's Center creates a setting in which children can become active learners by encouraging hands-on activities. Small groups activities are geared toward each child's individual needs. Large group activities may involve outdoor play, singing songs, and playing musical instruments. Language and literacy are vital parts of preschool. Listening to stories, drawings, and exposure to printed words are used to represent the first steps in reading readiness.

Preble Children's Center, The Toddler Program

Address:
PO Box 189, 1953 Preble Road
Preble, NY  13141
The Toddler Program encourages children to explore a variety of activities. The ages of our Toddler Program ranges from 18 months to 3 years. Group songs, finger plays, and stories promote communication skills, cooperation, and self control. Individualized activities such as puzzles, block play, and coloring build independence and self-esteem. Whether splashing at the water table, or swirling finger paint, play time is really a time for learning. Staff members listen carefully and make suggestions to increase the child's involvement. The focus remains on the child with the caregiver acting as a guide to interesting and new experiences.
