    Public health continues to lead vaccination efforts against such diseases as: hepatitis B, measles, diphtheria, tetnus, and pertussis. These clinics are available for children two months to school age. There is no appointment necessary. Call for clinic schedule.

  • Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program -
    The Seneca County Health Department helps protect the public from such harmful substances as:lead, asbestos, toxic waste, and cancer-causing chemicals. Please call for more information.
  • Expectant Parents Health Guide -
    Educating the public about health issues is a main goal of The Seneca County Health Department. We provide support and home visits to all newborns and their parents. Please call for information.
  • Breast & Cervical Cancer Screenings -
    Life expectancy has increased greatly during this century. Much of that increase is due to public health efforts. We provide screenings to uninsured and underinsured women. Please call for eligibility information.
  • Tuberculosis Control -
    The Seneca County Health Department provides Tuberculosis testing and treatment. Call for more information.
  • Seasonal Flu and Pneumovax Shots -
    To prevent the spread of contagious illness, The Seneca County Health Department provides flu and pneumovax shots to those over 65 or at risk. Community Clinics are held in the fall.

    Follow up for communicable disease is available at the Seneca County Public Health Department.

Through the Backpacks for Kids in Care program, SVHC collects backpacks filled with personal items to assist children, temporarily displaced for a variety of reasons, who need some essentials during the transition period. The campaign runs February through the month of March each year. Backpacks are accepted at any time. Monetary donations are also accepted and used to sustain the program.

Living Healthy Workshops can help for individuals with arthritis, high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic pain, depression or other conditions better manage their conditions. The six-week series covers support networks, nutrition and exercise, pain and fatigue management, communicating with health care professionals and setting goals. Registration is free and includes a Living Healthy book, a relaxation CD, and healthy snacks each week. Workshops are held periodically throughout the year; call for upcoming dates.

Shared Journeys helps individuals, families, communities, and organizations to care more effectively for themselves and others who are not like them. Shared Journeys offers highly participatory programs of advocacy, consultation, education, direct service, and small group work.
