Housing Services staff perform health and safety inspections on each housing unit before rental assistance can begin and at least once per year thereafter.

Families with children at risk of out-of-home placement or delayed in returning from care because the family lacks adequate housing are eligible for Housing Choice Vouchers under this program. Family must meet HCVP eligibility requirements. TC DSS determines eligibility for this special program.

  • Family Self-Sufficiency: helps eligible Housing Choice Voucher families become economically self-sufficient by setting and working toward reasonable and realistic education and employment goals. Upon successfully completing the program, a participant who has increased earned income may receive funds from an escrow account established in his/her name. These funds can be used for self-sufficiency needs such as paying for education or job skills training, purchasing a reliable vehicle or making a down payment on a home.
