The Education Program provides suicide awareness and intervention training, through a variety of programs on recognizing and helping people at risk for suicide. Training and education is provided to schools, businesses, community groups, organizations and the general public. The SPCS Role Players, with individuals from ages 14 to 90, perform lively role plays to highlight issues and engage audiences. This interactive theater help audiences talk about difficult issues impacting their lives. A new training program has been implemented that is called Volunteer Educators. This program is available for all those that wish to volunteer for SPCS and learn more about the agency, the work, and suicide prevention.

The Tompkins County Mental Health Department, in coordination with the Tompkins County Community Mental Health Services Board, is responsible for planning, developing, monitoring and improving a comprehensive system of community-based preventative, rehabilitative, and treatment services for individuals and families affected by mental illness, chemical use disorders, and mental retardation/developmental disabilities. This program makes policy for such services and contracts to provide state aid to private not-for-profit agencies which provide some of these services. The Tompkins County Mental Health Department provides a wide range of direct services including: assessment, counseling, individual and group therapies, medication management, treatment, rehabilitation, case management and crisis services to adults, children, and families with mental health challenges. All Tompkins County residents can receive these services regardless of ability to pay, based on a sliding fee scale. The department also provides court-ordered evaluations; hospital transport evaluations; services to drug courts; and evaluates, provides or monitors mental health services for jail inmates.

Child and Family Clinic Plus program is a multifaceted program that provides screenings, assessments and evidenced based care to children and families. The goal is to work closely with families to help with early identification of emotional needs of children. Free voluntary screening in community settings like schools and health centers, only with a parent or guardian's signed consent, is available to determine if a full clinical assessment is warranted. The Child and Family Clinic Plus program is a full service mental health clinic serving children in Tompkins County who are in need of mental health services. Services include psychotherapy, play therapy, medication, assessment and testing, family therapy, consultation and referral.

The Skylight Club is a continuing day treatment program that provides psychiatric and rehabilitative programs for eligible adults. Assessment and treatment planning prior to and during program case management is provided. Pre-vocational activities and groups, crisis services, and medication therapies are available. Social training activities, socialization opportunities, volunteer placement, and task and skill training is provided.

Individuals can print the results of their assessments to take with them to a health care provider.
