The Friendship Center, part of the American Red Cross Homeless Services Program, is a daytime drop-in center where the Outreach and Prevention Case Managers provide support, information and referral, landlord/tenant mediation, as well as housing solutions for individuals who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
The Center acts as a referral center and provides a drop-in site for individuals & families to come have coffee, food, use telephones, and take showers.
The Marilyn Crone Bright Space offers toys, games and books for children to use when their parents are visiting the center.
Visitors can make their own breakfasts at the Friendship Center Mondays through Fridays. Lunches are served every Tuesday and Thursday at 12 noon and the 3rd Saturday of the month from 3 to 5 pm.
The Red Cross Food Pantry serves Tompkins County residents from 2 to 4 pm Monday through Friday. If someone is in urgent need of food, call or drop by the Friendship Center between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm and call the 24-hour Homeless Hotline at other times. During the holiday season, donations of personal care, clothing and other items are sought for the clients of the Friendship Center and the shelter program. Contact the shelter director for more information.

Shelter/Friendship Center Supervisor
Those in need of emergency shelter should call or visit the Department of Social Services (DSS) Special Services Unit first during business hours. If they are eligible through DSS, DSS will refer people directly to the shelter.
The Homeless Services program assists those who are homeless or in peril of becoming homeless in Tompkins County. Homeless Services helps participants to find safe and secure housing and to obtain the financial means to sustain it.
Cold Weather Policy: If the temperature is below 20 degrees F, persons in need of shelter, even if they have children and/or are not eligible for DSS services, should call the Homeless Hotline.

I am a NYS Licensed Clinical Social Worker and provide counseling services for children, teens and young adults with emotional and behavioral challenges. My work utilizes a combination of behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, play therapy, life skills development, mindfulness and stress reduction. I also provide short-term counseling for area Employee Assistance Programs for adults and their families.
I offer brain training neurofeedback for ADHD (including a comprehensive assessment). Neurofeedback can treat symptoms of inattention, distractibility, impulsivity and hyperactivity. Children 6 years thru adulthood can benefit. In 2012 the American Academy of Pediatrics labeled neurofeedback a "Level 1 -Best Support" intervention for ADHD. I can assist clients with insurance reimbursement.
