The Early Recognition Screening Program is a free, voluntary and confidential emotional and behavioral health screening for Cortland County youth. Emotional health issues can affect all aspects of a child's life. Addressing smaller problems early on can prevent bigger problems in the future.
Parents fill out a checklist and mail it to the Family Counseling Services screener. The screener then contacts the parents about the results and discusses options and resources in the community.

The Family Resource Connection, a network of 13 organizations, collaborates to reach families in need of support and helps create healthy children, strong families, opportunities for early learning and supportive communities.
"Better Together!" provides parents and children with a way to connect with others in the community. Children participate in a "kids' cafe" program while parents meet to develop social networks, promote healthy parent-child relationships and connect with community networks.

Tompkins County Family Treatment Court provides for the health, safety and permanency of children of substance abusing parents involved in neglect proceedings.
This is accomplished through intensive judicial oversight, providing comprehensive services, and close collaboration between Family Treatment Court Team members. The Team provides rapid assessment and referral to services for both children and parents and provides ongoing monitoring of the family. This aids Family Treatment Court to ensure that parents and children receive needed help and support, while maintaining a holistic and strength-based approach to success.
